It is with great sadness that ICEJ UK offers our prayers and condolences to the Jewish community in Manchester. As more reports come through regarding this dreadful attack, we want to offer our Christian support in any way that we can.

This heinous attack on members of the Jewish community took place in Manchester at Heaton Park Synagogue. Innocent people were targeted and their lives taken. People who were simply on their way to pray on this holy day of Yom Kippur.

It was only on Monday evening that Christians joined with the Jewish community a short distance away from this attack. They were giving support to the ambulances of MDA. At that meeting, parents told the awful story of the loss of their son to the cruel massacre at the Nova festival. Members of the Heaton Park synagogue joined in applauding the work of MDA, who themselves have had their own losses on and since October 7th.

This is a dark day for Manchester and the north west of England, but of course an even darker day for the Jewish people who are already under considerable strain.

30 miles away in Liverpool, the Labour government held its party conference earlier in the week. Outside, every day, people were screaming ‘free Palestine’. Our Prime Minister and his government have chosen to recognise Palestine and given in to terrorism.

In spite of all this negativity and this appalling attack we want our Jewish friends to know that there are many Christians worldwide who will pray and stand with them.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Shalom,

National Director, ICEJ UK
