ICEJ UK helps provide another bomb shelter
Date - 19.11.2025The ICEJ UK has helped fund another much-needed bomb shelter in the Sadgot region of Israel.
Children in the Sadot Negev region have long lived under the constant threat of rocket attacks from Gaza, a reality intensified by the traumatic events of October 7, 2023. With a recent ceasefire and a month free of rocket alerts, the community is beginning to rebuild and heal. Central to this recovery is the expanded Sadot Negev Resilience Centre, which grew from a small team of 17 therapists serving 200 residents to a staff of 80 treating around 2,000 people still coping with trauma. To safely operate, the centre required two large bomb shelters—an essential addition in a region where residents have only ten seconds to reach safety.
The ICEJ UK has made bomb-shelter support a long-standing mission, funding hundreds of shelters across Israel and recently providing the ones needed for the Sadot Negev centre. At their dedication, community leaders and ICEJ supporters emphasised both the physical and emotional security these shelters offer. Local residents shared how the centre’s therapy programs—ranging from group sessions to creative workshops—have helped families regain stability after the attacks. Looking ahead, the center plans to expand its therapeutic spaces, while expressing hope that one day such shelters will no longer be necessary.
