The ICEJ has been renovating public bomb shelters across Israel to protect vulnerable communities facing ongoing rocket attacks.

We repaired 15 large public shelters in central Israel by restoring lighting, fixing structural damage, reinforcing doors, improving bathrooms, and making access safer and easier. An additional nine shelters near Israel’s northern border were upgraded for long-term stays with mattresses, chairs, tables, fans, Wi-Fi, and children’s activities, helping residents endure extended periods under threat.

Over the years, many older shelters in poorer neighbourhoods have fallen into dangerous disrepair, and these renovations transformed them into reliable, dignified spaces of refuge that provide both physical safety and reassurance during emergencies.
